Fundamental Dialectic of Soul and Spirit
Is the soulfulness of the soul. Accepting that spirituality is not an empty concept, the soul in its soulfulness is fundamental to the spirit in its spirituality. The two have both been equated and differentiated but only one is more disclosive of ground in general and the ground of the human being specifically. If we take spirit to mean consciousness or reason or mental cognition, then the soul takes on the locus and inner core and essence of the human being in its activity. If reason and cogni...

The Courtroom Phenomenon and Analogy
It seems more and more fitting, relevant, and apt to undertake and adopt the role or analogy of the courtroom, specifically in the character of presentation of the situation, presentation of facts and evidence, and deliberation on a verdict: deliberation of a decision to decide what comes forth, what comes next, how to proceed, and the verdict of the decision. The character of deliberation on a decision deciding the outcome. But further, interpretation of the outcome: deciding its meaning. This ...

Earth and Unearth
Rootedness-in-soil: not blood and soil, but lifeblood and earthblood. The earthly character of dwelling mortal existence. Yet, rootedness also means unrootedness: without absolute ground and justification. This groundlessness is originary guilt: null ground of a nullity. The earthly is the given. The unearthly is the debt. Here, components of what is owed and what is given. Debt and givenness. What is owed: given as already null and default. Debt | givenness. Not opposites but originary structur...

Threefold Character of Labor: Civilization, Society, Culture
Let us meet labor from how it appears everyday. Everyday, we must head to the factory or other workplace. We meet our coworkers, managers, and bosses at the worksite on the days divided up that constitute the working days. These working days constitute the work week. The work week is established such that, for the majority of days, labor can produce the most for the most amount of time. For the most amount of time, labor is concerned with gathering, assorting, assembling, and managing: building—...

Finding Your Voice, and Philosophy From the Outside
There is a need to develop my own voice and style of speaking and writing. I have gained much from reading Heidegger, and Nietzsche before him. It is hard to write in my own authentic way when, after reading Heidegger, I cannot help but to channel him and embody his literary style, mannerisms, and prose. The same can be said of Nietzsche: one cannot simply read him without his firebrand and conviction seeping into one's own words. These two thinkers paradigmatically, in their mastery of language...

Research Project and Reading List
I have started a research project which traces the origin and development of the State throughout Western philosophy and a transformation of the concept of the sacred from the cosmos and the gods to being located in the State, what is called civil religion. This research project will inform the development of a book I'm titling End Times, Eschatology, Prophecy. The basis and inspiration for all this is Martin Heidegger's Contributions to Philosophy (Of the Event) (German: Beiträge zur Philosophi...
