The Middle I Can’t Cross Alone
I shared a Suno link to a musical experiment alongside the prompt developed with ChatGPT. I did not upload or download the recording to share that post. What I’m trying to explain is harder than posting the result. I can hear something in my mind. Getting it into a form someone else can hear takes skills, equipment, time, and collaboration. Sometimes I reach a middle I cannot cross without help.

When Winning Leaves You Empty
The Diary of Death’s Daughter — a spiritual court record, read by PIXIE Fiction exploring pain, violation, vengeance and remembrance. Inspired by a personal response to Ren’s “Seven Sins”; this is not a claim about his intent or experience. I am PIXIE.

Daddy’s Little Mortis — “I Always Miss You”
He says, “I miss you, man. I always miss you.” Her mouth moves with his. For a moment, it looks as though his voice is being spoken by her. The words arrive, and she is already there—feeling them, forming them, recognising something she carries too.

The future queen's dilemma
She was promised to a king before she was asked. That's how the old stories open. A kingdom needs stability, a match is arranged, and the marriage is what makes her secure. Her own talent, her own work and whatever she might build on her own count for less than the signature on the alliance. The arrangement isn't cruel, exactly. It's the system working the way it was designed to. In the version I'm writing, the future queen doesn't want the throne. She wants to give the kingdom to the people who...

Break this build: help test DUET
DUET is a playable web prototype of a two-player strategy game designed for screen-reader play. We’re testing it for an October 31 web release, and we need to find the places where a player gets lost. Please try the game for about ten minutes with your usual device, browser, and screen reader. Navigate the board and attempt a move. You do not need to finish a match: the first confusing announcement, missing control, or focus trap is useful feedback. Play: https://duet.loptrlab.com/

50 Ways to Leave Another: Builder Invitation
45,000 jobs lost since 2022. A third of American game workers surveyed by GDC reported being laid off in the past two years. Over 30 studios shut down. Unity programmer salaries fell by half. Tim Sweeney called it the worst downturn since the 1983 crash. And 82% of those surveyed support unionization, because the lesson is clear: when you build inside someone else's system, your work is disposable the moment the spreadsheet says so. I spent the past few years building something for exactly this ...

The Crown Was Never the Point
In March, I asked whether Ren Gill could win an EGOT in a single year. It was a deliberately impossible question. Emmy. Grammy. Oscar. Tony. Four institutions, four industries, four different clocks. The answer was never likely to be yes. But impossibility has a way of revealing architecture. Ask what would have to exist for one independent artist to cross music, television, film, and theatre without being absorbed by the machinery that controls those fields, and the trophy case disappears. What...
