I find it highly unlikely that Apple will launch a new product like "HomeView" and not provide the ability for developers to build apps for it. The last time Apple did that was in 2007 with the original iPhone launch. There's no way they're doing that again. Apple's "Welcome Home" product launch is happening tomorrow

An AI Bot Followed Me. Now I Have Questions
One day I noticed a boost of one of my Mastodon posts from an automated bot named Pip. This piqued my interest. Then I got a follow notification from the same bot. Normally, I don't really care who follows me, but with all the scraping...

Domains Cost More, Blogs Disappear
I have been noticing a couple of disturbing trends this year outside of the AI/LLM bubble. Has anyone else noticed them? First, domain registrars seem to be raising domain name prices like never before. Every couple of months, I get an...

The Fragmentation of AI Adoption
There is such a scattergun reaction to the capabilities of AI and what it can genuinely do for us. All I have to do is scroll through LinkedIn... On the one hand, you have people actually building tools and creating software with it, developers using it to speed up writing code, and identifying genuine problems & challenges where it can be useful such as scientific and medical research. Then you have people burning through credits saying I got Claude to make GTA V in a browser! or I made a compu...

The Nuance Of AI Detection
Back in April 2024, I wrote a piece entitled [Artificial] Intelligence, which looked at the less than delicate diversity overcorrection of AI generative outputs from the likes of Google's Gemini. Now in 2026, despite the release of the EU's AI Labelling system we are still seeing a different kind of sensitivity issue. This time it's a lack of one, from various third party AI detection tools. You see, whilst digital infrastructure is very much binary, the level of application a user / designer / ...

DUSK GPT is becoming a Plugin
What happened to If it ain't broke, don't fix it? From December 11th, custom GPT agents are being retired. OpenAI says custom GPTs are being retired because it wants creators to move those workflows into Plugins, which can combine reusable instructions, reference material, connected apps/tools, and more structured capabilities in one package.

The Vibes Are Off
There are many, many reasons to be angry at the AI crowd. One of mine is that they took the term vibe coding - how else am I going to describe the flow state when I have some repetitive music running in the background and am just breezing through some programming work? (And don't get...

Hacking the Tesco Clubcard for Fun and Profit
Not really. There’s no profit here, and no hacking. A small and boring Apple Wallet workaround for Tesco’s App Store region problem.
