park toddle with blue skies
BB crawled in to AB’s bed at wakeup time to cuddle. Had a long walk around Prospect Park with AB this morning. Perfect temperature. She is VERY in to acorns. Walked about 1.3 miles, which is pretty good going for her little legs.

I want to find a nail polish color of this blue
Spoke with a potential client, could be such a good fit. Time will tell. Flu shot obtained, it’s early this year. 7 kids in BB’s 25-person class are out.

one of the last sandal days
Started a trial of super low dose steroids to reduce the joint pain before we consider higher-order lupus meds. Seems to be helping, but the improvement could also be a result of dropping a potentially problematic med. Time will tell. Good day so far.

Late 30s going on 70
It finally feels like fall here, it was about 48F when I took the kids to school and daycare. Enjoyed getting dressed for that sort of weather, not so much sunscreen and sweat. And my ears don’t hurt in the wind anymore thanks to the hydroxychloroquine, turns out that was Raynaud’s. But the joint pain...

“Moments Away”
I added a significant number of Google News feeds for specific Brooklyn neighborhoods to my feed collection (future article topic?). I then went through the initial set of articles that came up. I decided to read Timeless Brooklyn Reimagined: Minerva Development Unveils 263 Sackett in the Heart of Carroll Gardens since I know the area....

Pook-Emu Bee: Links For 05-18-26
Monday is here. So too after taking the weekend off are my Pook-Emu Bee links. 1. Maniac strangles 7-year-old boy in Brooklyn park: cops (Dean Moses for Brooklyn Paper. May 18, 2026.) These sorts of troubling Brooklyn headlines are seldom about places I visit. That is mostly true in this case as well, but "Bush-Clinton...

Pook-Emu Bee: Links For 04-30-26
Work did not allow for timely Pook-Emu Bee links, but today I return with nine new links from around the web. 1 Popular WordPress redirect plugin hid dormant backdoor for years (Bill Toulas for Bleeping Computer. April 29, 2026.) Not popular enough for me to have been using it (but do attend to the issue...

Brooklyn (pretty much) Rules

A broken record
Maybe it’s just the sentimentality that comes from knowing I’ll be away from New York City for a few weeks, but there’s still something undeniably magical about it… Tonight was a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge right as the sun set, a typically fantastic dinner at Grimaldi’s, a quickly-grabbed pint…

Brooklyn writing
Sunday afternoon found me speaking to the inestimable Mr. Ford, and I had to note my frustration at his, and other, Brooklyn-based web projects populated with authors (their names either unlikely or pseudonymous) carefully framing their meticulous line drawings with flowery prose laden with…
