This is a fun "Ask Hank Anything" episode with Aabria Iyengar (@aabria.bsky.social) and Hank Green (@hankgreen.bsky.social). Frenetic and lots of sci-fi ideas. https://youtu.be/Rk0sCYvmaag?si=DoBz3U7_s6AeCjHE

Life, death, an wonder of the Cosmos
I really enjoyed this discussion between @astrokatie.com and @hankgreen.bsky.social in an episode of Hank's podcast, Humans. It's a wonderful perspective of science and discovery: https://pca.st/episode/c9c0a916-616c-4495-8877-436dffaee565

My Return to Insanity
I've written plenty of times about how, toward the end of 2024, I left most mainstream social media platforms. Especially those that were run by people that could be categorized as being part of what I call our “Broligarchy,” i.e. the tech bros that run companies like Meta and X (formerly Twitter). I cleaned out my accounts on Instagram, Threads, and X, and even fully took my Facebook and WhatsApp accounts off life support entirely by fully deleting them. I found a new home on places like Bluesk...

Making Claude Cowork actually useful
Every article I read about "AI agents for work" tells me the same things. Clean up my inbox. Summarize my meetings. Draft my emails. Turn rough notes into polished decks. Keep my calendar tidy. These are all lovely ideas. They are also, almost…

How startup secondaries actually work
Secondaries - so hot right now. For those not in the loop, a secondary stock sale or ‘secondary’ is where existing stockholders of a private company sell their stock to someone else. This is great for founders and employees - and early investors…

Zooming out
Recently, there was this insightful interview in our local newspaper that I found really interesting and seemed almost philosophical to me. So I decided to curate and share some passages.

January is coming to an end, meaning that around 8% of 2025 has already passed. It felt like a slower month, definitely slower than the previous months in the sense that there was nothing big happening. However, the things that happened, I'm very glad with.

PostHog ruined all other jobs for me
I never thought it would happen to me. I was an ambitious kid, and I always paid close attention to successful people talking about their careers on TV. A lot of folks seemed to love their jobs. I wanted that someday. But two decades into my career…

September is now almost gone and we're diving deeper and deeper into the autumn. Despite a few problems here and there, I think it was quite a nice month, and it's important to always try seeing things for their positive side, despite that now always being very easy.

October just passed by. It's now full-on autumn and I just turned one year older. It was, overall, a great month. Friends have visited, both from abroad and local. Met with some people, steam train rides. Let's dive into it!

September passed by quite quickly and with that two thirds of 2023 are now finished. As we now enter the final 🏁 quarter of this year, let's recap what has happened on my life over the past month. As usual, I feel like a lot has happened, especially when looking at it in retrospective.

November has been a pretty intensive month in many different regards: from my parents visiting The Netherlands for the first time, to my partner and I moving in together to a new apartment. Besides, we're getting closer and closer to the end of the year, which means there are some cosy events I am looking forward to 🎄🍷.

October is probably one of my favorite months of the year. Not only because of the vibes falling onto us 🍁 - no pun intented -, or my birthday, but it is also usually packed with events happening here and there. But before we continue, I wish you a great All Hallows' Eve 🎃!

July is ending for most of us in a few hours and August will start. This is when most people go for vacation and have their summer holidays. Let's look at what I've been doing during July, which has been a very very busy month - I feel like I've been saying this every month.

Say My Name Say My Name
For about ten years, Slate has had an intermittent series of articles that explain how to pronounce names of people who are in the news. As someone whose (first) name is frequently mispronounced, I can appreciate the effort. (For the record: I pronounce it like the word “anneal”, used in…

There is some amusing human
There is some amusing human nature conclusion that I’m sure can be drawn from the number of emails, phone calls, and instant messages I’ve gotten about my anti-obtusity comments earlier. But rest assured, the obtuse party is not you, as you are reading my web site. And the person whom I was…

Although it probably just means
Although it probably just means I’m unpopular, I think it’s interesting that I haven’t received a single copy of the "I Love You" worm, in any of its numerous variations… Or perhaps it’s just a testament to the intelligence of the people with whom I correspond. Yeah, that’s it!
