Frustrating Appointments Day
Well, today was a mess. Booked a taxi to arrive 20 minutes before the first appointment of my day. I was sitting outside for a while, and the taxi was a no-show. I'm thinking there must be traffic holding them up. Called. Yep, stuck in Inverness. Dispatched another driver from town; meanwhile, I'm calling the GP to say I'm going to be late. GP receptionist says if I can get there 10 minutes after my allotted time, they can swap me with the next person who has already checked in.

Musings on Self-Injection v. Infusions
I was sitting here doing some research related to one of my (many) health conditions, and started to muse about how different my treatment for Crohn's is now. Injecting my biologic medication at home is so easy and stress-free in comparison to the infusions I used to have. As much as I liked the beneficial effects that infusions had on my Crohn's, injecting at home just feels superior, even if I haven't enjoyed as many benefits from the treatment - yet. I mean, I don't expect much, especially si...

Abair Seachdain
It's only Tuesday, but my week has got off to a problematic start. Firstly, I am suffering from constipation. Three days' worth, which may not sound bad to some, but for someone like me who goes to the bathroom up to 20 times a day, this is not good. I have spent most of today on the toilet with nothing happening but a whole lot of pain. It's so bad now that eating anything makes me feel nauseated; even sipping water is having an adverse effect on my stomach. I need to drink water, though, to ea...

Choices
Received a letter from my consultant after my colonoscopy. For some reason, the team have decided not to offer Infliximab, because I had to stop treatment due to surgery. Instead, they are offering Adalimumab, with which I am unfamiliar.Again, there is reference to painkillers, with some options mentioned, but no idea as to when these are to be prescribed.I've also received an appointment with the Dietetics department at the local hospital. I have no idea if this is in relation to my Crohn's or ...

Pre-Op
Tuesday was my pre-operative assessment. Not had this as an outpatient before, so didn't realise it involved an ECG, blood tests and a 45-minute interview. Luckily, my new tumbler keeps water cold enough that I have increased my fluid intake, so the blood test was taken from my arm, and it was an easy draw. Thanks to some friends, I didn't have to navigate the buses, etc., and rocked up early. It was all done so quickly, thankfully, as I had only managed two hours' sleep that night. Afterwards, m...

Doo Doo
It's a childish title inspired by this app's creator. It is also what I have been dealing with an excess of these past 48 hours. I've literally only taken water on board, as any and all food is exiting faster than it is being consumed. I've had pain so bad that I've been taking painkillers, significant blood loss with every expulsion, and the inevitable lack of sleep as I am held captive in the bathroom. I'm beyond tired, hungry and fed up.
