How I Actually Got Into Technology

I am, at heart, a creative—a writer, a musician, a composer, an actor—so why do I do so much with technology?

Getting Better Isn't Linear—And It's Annoying

So one of the things I've been dealing with as of late are health issues, both physical and mental. I'm going in and out of doctor's appointments, in therapy, getting tests, and taking meds and vitamins. Overall it's going well, but it's also really frustrating because some days feel great—almost normal. Then there are other days that are a slog and lead to slipping back into old habits and bad patterns. I don't really know why I'm writing this one down...I guess I really just want to share my e...

On: My Real Problem With AI

Below is a series of replies that turned into a really long discussion about AI in software development and it kinda perfectly encapsulates my thoughts so instead of rewriting all of my thoughts I figured I'd just paste the whole thing into a blog post. So here we go! Well most of the work that I'm doing with agentic development is going towards tools like @thesocialwire.app, which is designed to collect all of the standard.site and skyreader.app publications a user is subscribed to to create a ...

"This Plant Thrives in Drier Environments"

Honestly I love the fact that this kind of sign exists. I've seen them in a few places (including my apartment building) and they're one of my favorite things. While simple, I feel like they represent something important about society. Most people don't know a ton about plants, but people do know that taking care of plants requires watering them. While the actual amount of water a plant needs varies by species, people don't know that. What they do know is that plants need water. What this sign r...

We Got Claude Control Before We Got Gun Control

I don't really know where I'm going with this, but apparently the government just decided to stop Anthropic from allowing access to Fable and Mythos for...reasons? Something something foreign adversaries using the model, which tracks for this administration. Ultimately, like, is it that important that people have access to Fable and Mythos? Probably not. But the thing is: this is a weird step for the government to take. They like control, sure, but this is a regulation on corporations—interrupti...

The Revolution Will Not Be Televised—But It Is Being Livestreamed

I'm currently sitting here avoiding doing what I'm supposed to be doing to watch Trump's name get pulled down from the Kennedy Center (and apparently so are tens of thousands of others). It's one of those moments that's interesting to me because we learned so much about political figures standing up monuments to themselves and having them torn down upon their defeat—but this one is happening now. Optimistically, I think that, while things have been getting worse and this regime has done some irr...

They Pepper-Sprayed Andy Kim! Bastards!

Okay so I’ve been out most of the day since I had family visiting, but then I come home and find out that the protests at Delaney Hall had escalated today with government forces descending on civilians with their usual affair—pepper balls, gas, and other riot control gear. From following his page on Bluesky, I know he’s been touring Delaney Hall, which is located in Elizabeth, NJ (about an hour’s train from New York City) and shedding light on the horrid conditions there and as someone who grew ...

Tending Living Things

So I’ve been interested in getting a pet cat, they seem fun and they like me. During the Covid lockdowns I would go for walks around town and befriend the local outdoor cats so I figured I’d get one at some point. But the thing is I’m not particularly good at taking care of things, so I figured I’d work my way up to cat. I started with plastic plants. I got some plastic plants from different places, I named them, and I put them around my dorm and then my apartment. It seemed to be going well.
