Hagia Sophia from the Fountain
Oct 14, 2026
I walked through Sultanahmet Park on a bright October afternoon while clouds moved quickly over the Hagia Sophia. The fountain in the middle of the park was a pleasure to watch and lots of people were enjoying it, taking time to sit and take in the sound of water falling.

Tritons in the Dark
Oct 13, 2026
The Triton Fountain in Valletta, Malta. It’s an impressive artwork, but all the better when it’s lit up at night!

Upside Down on Kennedy Quay
Oct 12, 2026
I took this in January 2018 on Kennedy Quay, after rain had left wide puddles across the broken tarmac. The same photo now would only show blue sky and clouds as the R&H Hall building has since been demolished.

Cobh on St Patrick’s Night
Oct 11, 2026
I watched the St Patrick’s Day fireworks in Cobh this year from across the water. This must have been at the start of the event as the boat firing the fireworks drifted quite far down the harbour by the time it finished.

Before the Walls Went Up
Oct 10, 2026
I took this from across the river in August 2019, looking at Holy Trinity Church on Father Mathew Quay. The floodlights were on, and the water was still enough to reflect the whole spire. The river walls along this stretch have been built up since then as part of the flood works. In 2019 the […]

A Robin in the Castle Grounds
Oct 8, 2026
Way back in April 2022 I came across a robin in the grounds of Blarney Castle. He watched me for several moments and seemed untroubled by my presence, so I got a few shots off before he flew off!

The Watcher by the Wall
Oct 7, 2026
I found this stag at the edge of a field in Killarney National Park in October 2022, standing under an old tree behind a mossy stone wall. I think we were just headed for a late breakfast when someone spotted him in a field off the road.

Salamah on Sullivan’s Quay
Oct 6, 2026
In August 2022 the gable at the corner of Sullivan’s Quay and Drinan Street carried Joe Caslin’s portrait of Salamah, a woman seeking asylum in Ireland, with two huge hands held over her head like a roof. It was part of A Story of Home, a Cork Midsummer Festival project made with the Cork Migrant […]

A Pathway Below the Waterline
Oct 5, 2026
At low tide the Thames drops several metres and leaves a wide strip of shingle below the Oxo Gallery on the South Bank, scattered with broken brick. I wondered about this framed pathway was going into the river. It’s only visible at low tide. It looks old. Was it a causeway for people to reach […]

A Dog on Watch
Oct 4, 2026
It was really nice on South Bank in London. The sun was shining and the crowds had yet to descend on the area we were walking along. That dog was on alert though, watching everyone walk by.

Rock, Glass and Concrete
Oct 3, 2026
We walked across this footbridge, passing over a busy road but what caught my eye was the apartment blocks looming ahead.
