uch is written about the physical and mental health benefits of naturism and social nudism, which I don’t need to reiterate for the many practitioners subscribed here. But often overlooked in articles on the subject is one particular benefit to the environment, and by extension every living being within breathing distance of a clothes dryer vent: the less we need to wash and dry clothes, the fewer microplastics from synthetic textiles like polyester, nylon and acrylic are being discharged outside your house.

“Wait! Dryers have lint catchers,” you might say.

Indeed, they do. But the gaps in the mesh screens aren’t small enough to block microplastics, along with a host of pollutants from laundry detergents, fabric softeners, dryer sheets, dyes and other chemical coatings. Even natural fibres like cotton, wool and linen produce respiratory irritants when they tumble in vented clothes dryers.
