Action Anime tend to have Tournament Arcs
o I woke up over this
I was thinking about why I didn't put The Law Of Ueki in my all time Anime Top Five
Well the answer I always gave myself was the Law Of Ueki devolved into mindless Tournament Arc garbage
We were given one mindless Tournament Arc after the other and the stakes were always artificially raised and the power scales were also always artificially raised
Okay here's the part I woke up over
Then I thought to myself why I start off my list with YuYu Hakusho every single time then
If there is any Action Anime in history that devolved into Tournament Arc garbage it's YuYu Hakusho
In that case why do I always start off my Big Five lists with YuYu Hakusho
That sheer hypocrisy and inconsistency woke me up
As of the next few days I will be removing all my Articles that reference my Anime Top Five because that simply no longer exists
So as we just discussed The Law Of Ueki and YuYu Hakusho are both Tournament Arc garbage and they didn't even try to hide it
In fact they're both the definitive Tournament Arc garbage Anime out there, and I guess Flame Of Rika deserves to be on that list too
In the defense of Flame Of Rika; we were told upfront that the Anime was going to circle back and forth with Tournament Arcs, so to speak
This is where you get even more frustrated with YuYu Hakusho particularly because the Anime was originally about a Private Detective who could communicate with Yokai
It was a simple mystery/ monster of the week Anime and then the original premise went out the window
Similar to Bleach actually, it was also a simple mystery/ monster of the week Anime and then it's original premise also went out the window
Bleach and YuYu Hakusho have both shared and divergent weaknesses respectively
So we've just been over this, the shared weakness is that the original premise went out the window, here are the divergent weaknesses, we already covered how YuYu Hakusho like The Law Of Ueki is Tournament Arc garbage
Bleach like Naruto are the most disgusting cases of the Mangaka constantly changing their mind, Noriyaki Kubo literally redefines every spiritual being every Arc meanwhile Masashi Kishimoto is constantly not only raising the power scale but is constantly changing his mind over every detail whether it's a micro detail or a macro detail
So getting back to the topic at hand, Tournament Arcs, to be specific Anime that devolved into Tournament Arc garbage
This might have completely evaded you but Naruto and JuJutsu Kaisen also had Tournament Arcs, it's just that the Mangaka tried to pull the wool over your eyes
The Chunin Exams in Naruto, which is one of the most idiotic concepts and Arcs in Anime History is a well disguised Tournament Arc and you probably know where I'm going with this, the Culling Game in JuJutsu Kaisen is an equally forced, artifical and nonsensical Tournament Arc
So Action Anime tend to have Tournament Arcs, whether it's directly or indirectly
Dragon Ball set the precedent for basically doing everything you could possibly do wrong in an Action Anime starting from changing the premise to retconning everything and of course there's the out of place Tournament Arcs and even One Punch Man; which was supposed to parody other Action Anime ended up doing Tournament Arcs themselves, lifting the aforementioned Dragon Ball's World Martial Arts Tournaments
Surprisingly Bleach doesn't have Tournament Arcs but it has a myriad of other problems and this is where you have to praise Kagurabachi, which doesn't have any problems whatsoever
