Bluvy Tube - the October 2026 update

ou can now edit your videos right in the browser, pick their thumbnail, and find what you're looking for even with a typo. This October update is mostly for creators, but viewers get a fairer search and better-protected data too.

A video editor in your browser

Once you've picked a file in the upload form, click Edit the video and a full-screen editor opens. Everything happens on your device: nothing is sent until you publish.

  • Cut and rearrange: split anywhere, delete a section, drag clips around and trim them by their edges on the timeline. Undo and redo are always at hand.
  • Speed and picture: 0.5× to 2× per clip without changing the pitch of voices, plus brightness, contrast and saturation.
  • On-screen text: click the video to place a text, then move it, resize it or type straight onto it. Guides help you centre it.
  • Voice-over: record yourself over the playing video, then set your voice's volume and the original sound's, which can dip automatically while you talk.
  • Crop: 9:16 for vertical, 16:9 or 1:1.

What you see in the preview is exactly what gets exported. Bluesky's limits apply, 10 minutes and 300 MB per video, and the editor warns you before you go over. You need a recent browser that can encode video, such as Chrome, Edge or Firefox.

Pick your thumbnail

In the editor's Thumbnail tab, use the frame shown or import your own image. The thumbnail includes the crop, filters and texts visible at that moment. You can change it later from the video's edit page, or go back to the automatic one.

It shows up on Bluvy Tube straight away, without waiting for approval; our team removes the ones that break the rules. Bluesky always generates its own thumbnail, so yours only appears on Bluvy Tube. It still stays attached to the video on your account, and follows you if you move to another host.

Search that understands you, and favours no one

Search has been rebuilt from scratch. It now reads titles and descriptions, not just the post text, and the title counts the most.

  • Word variants: searching "kittens" also finds "kitten".
  • Typos: with no results, search fixes your query and offers Search instead for…. With only a few results, it suggests the right spelling.
  • New filters: spoken language (or no speech), short or long format, category, verified creators, and sorting by relevance, date or views.
  • Richer suggestions as you type: popular searches, hashtags, creators and videos, all keyboard-friendly.

Above all, popularity no longer counts in the ranking. View counts don't decide the order of videos, and follower counts don't decide the order of creators. A small channel that matches your search beats a big one that matches it less well. You can still sort by views if you want to.

Viewer or creator: your choice

On your next visit, Bluvy Tube will ask once whether you're mostly here to watch or to publish. You can change your mind any time in your publishing settings, and the choice never touches your videos.

  • As a viewer, the interface stays simple. You can still upload a video and find it under My uploads.
  • As a creator, you get the studio: stats, editing, captions, chapters, visibility and live streaming.

Creators move through three levels: New, Confirmed and Partner. You become Confirmed after 7 days in creator mode, with at least 3 videos online and no video removed by moderation in the last 30 days. Partner means the channel has been verified by the team. The rules are the same for every channel, big or small, and the studio shows your progress.

New creator tools

  • Scheduled publishing, from 10 minutes to 72 hours ahead.
  • Templates: save up to 20 sets of title, description, categories and language, and apply them in one click.
  • Hashtag and category suggestions while uploading, based on your habits and the category's popular tags.
  • Completeness score: a checklist of what your video is missing. It's for your eyes only and never affects ranking.
  • Retention curve and average watch time on each video's stats page.

Moderation follows the same logic: the trust a channel earns now depends on its track record, not its follower count. A big channel gets no shortcut a small one couldn't earn.

A more reliable upload form

Two fixes make uploading clearer:

  • Playlists you tick are now honoured. The video is added to them as soon as it's published.
  • Missing fields are pointed out. If the file or main category is missing, Publish takes you back to the right step and shows what's needed, instead of doing nothing.

The "mature audience" option is gone too. Bluvy Tube doesn't host adult content, and the form now says so plainly.

Your data, better protected

To understand what works and improve search, Bluvy Tube now keeps an internal activity log: page views, plays, searches. It's stored on our own servers, with no third-party service and no advertising use.

  • Never linked to your account, even when you're signed in: only to a random identifier.
  • Limited retention: details are deleted after 90 days. Only anonymous daily totals are kept for 25 months.
  • You can opt out with Don't measure my activity in your preferences. Your browser's Global Privacy Control signal is honoured automatically too.

We've also tightened what we already kept. Watch sessions no longer store your Bluesky identifier in clear text. Deleting your account now also erases your watch history. The privacy policy has been updated to match.
