resident Peter Mutharika who is in South Africa for a private trip, has praised mothers for their sacrifices and prayers, as Malawi commemorates Mother’s Day.
In a message issued on Thursday, October 15, Mutharika said his administration was committed to improving mothers’ health, dignity and economic well-being.
He said motherhood remained a blessing, recognising women’s dedication to raising families despite the challenges they face.
“For your tireless devotion, early mornings, late nights, quiet sacrifices, and unceasing prayers for your families, your love is truly matchless and paramount,” said Mutharika.
The President also highlighted efforts to improve maternal health services, empower women economically and expand educational opportunities for girls.
He said the initiatives were aimed at removing barriers that prevent women from reaching their full potential.
Mutharika further praised women for their resilience and dedication, saying their contributions continued to shape the country’s future.
He delivered the message alongside First Lady Gertrude Mutharika, extending Mother’s Day wishes to mothers, guardians and caregivers across the country.
“Today, we honour and celebrate every woman in Malawi,” he said.
