Zeze takes safe sex to the dance floor

Zeze Kingston is taking his music beyond the dance floor, with the Amapiano star preparing to deliver a message that could change how young people approach sex.

The musician, famous for his hit song Kusangalala, joins a new campaign promoting safer sexual choices among Malawi’s young population.

Zeze is now Banja La Mtsogolo (BLM) ambassador for a six-month campaign which will see him use music and university visits to push young people to protect themselves against HIV, sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancies.

As part of the partnership, the Amapiano star will produce a new song and music video for Manyuchi Premium Condoms to raise awareness about sexual health and the importance of protection.

Kingston said the initiative goes beyond entertainment, expressing his commitment to making a positive difference in communities by promoting sexual health awareness.

“We want to encourage young people out there to protect themselves from sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV and AIDS, as well as unwanted pregnancies. We will be visiting different universities to encourage young people to always use protection during sexual intercourse,” said Kingston.

BLM Programmes Director Charles Mhango said the organisation has partnered with Zeze to use the influence of popular culture to make sexual health information more accessible and appealing to young people.

“We want to reach as many people as possible with information on how they can protect themselves from sexually transmitted infections. That is why we want to empower artists and have partnered with Zeze to help deliver this message,” said Mhango.
