enya has recorded its first-ever death from Ebola after a man who had recently travelled from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) died on Monday night.

According to Kenya’s Health Minister, Aden Duale, the man had been living in the DRC, where he fell ill and received treatment before travelling by road to Uganda. He later flew from Kampala to Nairobi on October 3, where health authorities confirmed that he had contracted Ebola.

Health officials have identified 28 people who came into contact with the deceased, including relatives and healthcare workers. No additional cases have so far been confirmed.

The government says measures have been put in place to prevent further transmission and has urged the public to remain calm.

The DRC has been battling an Ebola outbreak since May, with more than 4,000 deaths reported.
