Stephen Braude: Big Dipper

Subtitled “Alternative Jazz Fusion”, this release by pianist and composer Stephen Braude takes on a wide  variety of musical genres. The team of Ljubomir Stojanovic/key, Miodrag Jovanic/g, David Rodriguez/arr, Sarah Thiele/voc, Jeremy Kiewicki/dr, Derek Jones/b, Ramiro Nasello/tp and Charles McNeal/sax are mixed and matched from a mellow bluesy synth of “Gary’s Tune” the a humming high hat led “Average Maniac In Las Vegas” with guitar and bass digging in. A bit of romantic Latin loving takes plase on “Bid Dipper” and a hint of Asian harmonies are tasted on “Good Grooming”. Lots of synthy pop is prevalante, as on the 80s-ish “Cable Rady Romance” and percussive “Big Dipper-Tango Noir”. A night under the stars.
