Empire Child: The Empire Child

Vocalist Ruth Rothwell brings songs of hope and healing on this album of encouragement with Mariano Diaz/p-key, Rene Rossano/g, Mikel Urreta/dr, Daniel Pozo/b, Tomi Lujan/perc and a handful of guests. The musical themes are wide ranging, going from a reggaed and fun “By Boat” to a wacka wooka-ing “Step Up Step Up” and 80’s pop “I Am The Knight”, but the messages all remain in the same mode, with themes of encouragement on the probing “Mind Be Free”, the cleansing and soulful “Negativity Be Gone” and the lullaby’d “Feeling Of Healing” that serves as a holistic balm. Her voice is assured and assuring, making the entire ten songs feel like a trip to the chiropractor for a physical or mental re-alignment.
