Pianist Randy Ingram gives a tribute to the legendary Bill Evans the smart way, in hiring the icon’s last drummer in Joe La Barbera and bringing in all star bassist Rufus Reid to form a formidable trio. The album more of a celebration as Ingram himself brings in a handful of tunes in the Evans-like manner, chiming along La Barbera’s ride cymbal on “Aloft”, reverent on “Remembrance” and crystalline on the perky “Sound Within”. Any recording with the deft La Barbera is worth buying, and he doesn’t disappoint with some soft shoe brushes on “Turn Out The Stars” and digging in on “ Ezz-Thetic” while Reid grooves in on “Letter To Evan” and glows on “For All We Know”. Everyone digs Randy Ingram.
