Fifteen Minutes in a Graveyard
The photo-opportunity that is getting your car tyres replaced
here's nothing quite like the boredom induced when you drop a vehicle in for a short operation. A short operation that Kwikfit can do in five minutes and your local garage takes far longer. Naturally you have to chat, admire, talk about the options, ask about the family — this is the south-west of the UK after all. These things are done 'dreckly' as the Cornish put it. They take time — because it's never solely about getting your tyres replaced.
So eventually, after talking about the garage hamster, there comes a time when you just have to leave the experts at their job, and you get bored simply waiting... and waiting. There's nearly always some problem to be resolved.
This is the reason I have an EDC camera — because then you can amuse yourself in the graveyard of cars that always accompanies back-street garages. You will never see this at a main dealer's — they charge at least three times as much and use that money to enrich the already wealthy and to remove the grot that forms part of the entertainment of a proper garage.
So here's a proper local, back-street garage graveyard in all its glory. You'll never get bored with this entertainment available.
Much better than waiting in a sterile foyer, with large Ikea-style canvases, shopping centre/Instagram style 'musak' and a coffee machine that thinks it's a computer with embedded Artificial Intelligence.
